Since 2006, MacNeil Homes has earned an excellent reputation for building custom homes in the Greater Charlotte Region, including premiere neighborhoods such as Carmel Country Club, Highgate, Longview, Myers Park, The Sanctuary on Lake Wylie and in the Lake Norman area. The MAME awards twice recognized MacNeil Homes with Gold awards for custom home of the year and MacNeil was recognized in 2011 as Distinguished Builder of the Year by the Home Builders’ Association (HBA).

Our Leadership Team
Anita MacNeil, CEO
began her homebuilding career as a CPA, working as Chief Financial Officer for a recently formed home building company. The owner groomed her to run the company and she quickly was promoted to Executive Vice President and subsequently became an owner and General Manager. Under her management, the company delivered over 1,000 homes in major metropolitan areas in North and South Carolina, receiving numerous awards including Home of the Year as recognized by Professional Builder Magazine and consistent top customer satisfaction ratings.
After the sale of the company and the fulfillment of her non-compete agreement, MacNeil joined with former co-workers and trade partners to form MacNeil Homes, LLC in January, 2006.
MacNeil has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Appalachian State University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
MacNeil is currently Treasurer of the Home Builders Association of Greater Charlotte where she has served as a Board and Executive Committee Member for several years. MacNeil also was past Treasurer/Board Member for the Carolina Custom Builders Guild and is past President of the Highgate Homeowners Association.
Rick Lauer, VP of Construction
Vice President of Construction, combines 8 years of hands-on commercial construction with over 20 years of residential construction management experience. Lauer has held leadership/executive roles with large and medium-sized home building companies.
Lauer has a degree in Construction Science from Clemson University’s School of Architecture with a minor in finance. Lauer is an active member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Charlotte and is Certified by the National Association of Home Builders as a Green Building Professional. Lauer volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, serves on his neighborhood’s Architectural Review Committee and is involved in area animal rescue operations.
