Local Homebuilding Veteran to Head New Division of MacNeil Homes

June 15, 2009

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 18, 2009 – Dwight Marshall, Charlotte area native and former principal and senior vice president at Saussy Burbank, announced today that he will team up with another former Saussy Burbank executive and principal Anita MacNeil, forming a division under her company, MacNeil Homes, LLC. The new division will provide new construction, renovation and consulting services to individuals and construction companies.

Marshall says the number of people interested in taking on all or part of a custom home construction project is growing steadily. “I have found that an increasing number of home buyers already have their own lot and blueprints and have a desire to take part in the construction of their dream home, but they lack the skills and experience to take on such a project on their own,” says Marshall. “This division will offer the flexibility to allow home buyers to be as involved in the construction process as they want.” The newly formed division of MacNeil Homes will have the ability to work among various price ranges. “We’re equally interested in building a unique ‘move up’ or ‘mid-range’ home as we are a ‘million dollar plus’ custom home. We believe that price doesn’t have to dictate quality, and we have the experience to build quality homes in a variety of price points,” says Marshall.

Clients will have a broad menu of choices from selecting all trade partners needed for the construction of a new home to serving as a consultant for homeowners going through an extensive renovation project. “As a result of our many years in residential construction in the Carolinas, we offer a long list of trusted trade partners in place for projects ranging from general site work to the finest interior detail work and everything in between,” says Marshall.

The division will also provide project management and consulting services to other construction companies who may be reluctant to add fixed overhead costs during tough economic times.

Marshall started his construction career as a superintendent with the John Crosland Company. He advanced to overseeing construction operations in Raleigh, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina for both the Crosland Company and later, Centex Homes. In 1989 Marshall became one of the founding principals of the company now known as Saussy Burbank. As senior vice president at Saussy Burbank, Marshall built the construction department from the ground up, leading construction operations in Charlotte, Raleigh and Charleston.

“The MacNeil Homes team is pleased to work with Dwight again and we feel confident that his knowledge and experience, which is unmatched in the industry, will enable us to broaden the scope of services we offer to new and existing customers,” says Anita MacNeil, owner and chief executive of MacNeil Homes.

MacNeil Homes builds custom and semi-custom homes through-out the Charlotte area including the neighborhoods of Carmel Country Club, Myers Park, The Sanctuary, Chapel Cove and has decorated models in Highgate and Bailey Springs. MacNeil Homes is headquartered in the Rotunda building at SouthPark. For more information visit or call 704-716-5990.
